We love extravagant ceremonies and events filled with fashionable stars. And like every first Monday in May, the fashion world prepares for its most important night of the year: the Met Gala. Needless to say, guests went all out with their hair and makeup as they gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to celebrate the work and legacy of Karl Lagerfeld, the theme of this year’s Costume Institute exhibit.

The Met Gala is a perfect opportunity for stars to play with beauty and extravagance and it’s clear they did not disappoint. Beauty highlights of the evening included gravity-defying sculptural updos as seen on Janelle Monae, delicate hair accessories and headpieces seen on Jennie Kim, Sydney Sweeney and Elle Fanning, the inventive use of colour and, of course, transformative makeovers as was the case with Doja Cat who walked the red carpet as Choupette, Lagerfeld’s beloved cream-blue Burmese tortoise cat, or the platinum blonde mane debuted by Jessica Chastain. Also, the biggest hair trend of the night was long locks. Rita Ora’s cascading curls and Nicole Kidman’s wet-look locks highlighted the trend.

KENDALL JENNER

For her makeup she opted for natural eyelashes, defined eyebrows, rosy cheeks and nude lipstick that together with her high ponytail gave a lifting effect to her face.

EMMA CHAMBERLAIN

Emma Chamberlain returned for another year as a special correspondent for Vogue in a periwinkle-colored ensemble and matching plush headband. Her brown hair was parted in the middle, slicked back and floated behind her. She paired her pastel outfit with blue smoky eye makeup and nude peach lips.

KARLIE KLOSS

For her makeup, Karlie opted for blush, pink lips and on point eyebrows that framed a very clear face with a neat ponytail tied with a black bow, very emblematic of the star designer of the night.

RITA ORA

Rita Ora looked beautiful on the red carpet as she opted for a sultry smokey eye achieved with a Charlotte Tilbury palette, texture curls and nails done by Naomi Yasuda, NYC artist.

BILLIE EILISH

The singer dazzled on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet wearing a classic goth and dark feminine style. She complemented her outfit by wearing her hair parted down the middle and finesses into an intricate tight and voluminous braid, adorned with black ribbons and a complete outline that made her made look amazing on the carpet.

GIGI HADID

Another of the stars who have caused a stir is the American model Gigi Hadid, who wore a semi-collected, relaxed hairstyle. In addition, in terms of makeup, the artist wore soft silvery eyeshadow and a single pearl centred under the lower lash line of each eye to denote her look to the fullest and make her radiant and flawless skin.
