Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented their latest spring summer 2024 menswear collection, entitled “Style”, which instantly became the highlight of the ongoing Milan Fashion Week.

The collection was a showcase of innovative craftsmanship and artistic mastery, redefining the concept of modern menswear. Seamlessly weaving the threads of introspection and artistic evolution, this unique ensemble articulates the quest for permanence in an ever-changing fashion landscape.

Unveiled on the grand stage of the Metropol, the new Dolce & Gabbana SS 2024 collection sparked a furor among all Italian fashion fans by capturing the contemporary masculine essence by putting a twist on the traditional through different garments ranging from coats and shirts to tailored pants and accessories.

During a press conference preceding the presentation of their Spring/Summer 2024 Collection, the duo did not hold back in their self-reflective discourse. Along with their sharp wit, it served as a fascinating insight into their current state of mind. Domenico reflected, ” In a world constantly saturated with trends, influencers and incessant conversations on social media, we ask ourselves, “Will we be remembered? Will our legacy stand the test of time? Will our style live on?”

The invitation to the show itself had symbolism, as it arrived in a black envelope containing a metal replica of a credit card, with “STYLE” in bold letters on its cover, emphasizing the importance of individual identity. “The credit card is a symbol of identity, unique and individual. It resonates with style, which is also about having a strong identity and a solid foundation,” said Stefano. Domenico added: “While fashion is fleeting, style is enduring. Our goal was to create something novel while remaining true to our unique style, allowing it to mature but still be recognizable. “

By referencing their own classic signatures such as the tank top, their devotion to black, traditional Sicilian coppola, lace and transparencies, they were able to infuse these elements with a modern, simplified aesthetic. The result was a collection characterized by a sophisticated simplicity. The color palette was limited but striking, with black, white, caramel, gray and dark brown. In contrast to the meticulously tailored suits, there were transparencies that lent an air of subtle sensuality, while sparse embellishments adorned the Oxford ensembles. Sleeveless tops were transformed into fitted bustiers and T-shirts, paired with high-waisted flowing pants.

Both designers shared: “A dress should fit the body and not the trends. That’s why construction is paramount for us.”

The expansive collection of nearly 80 looks was a departure for the designer duo in any season, a quietly luxurious set. There were no prints, no color, no sparkle. Instead, the focus was on form and materials. The influence of Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda heritage was evident when organza flowers were delicately placed on lapels, adding a touch of ethereal beauty.

Dolce & Gabbana emphasized the importance of constructing garments that fit the actual body perfectly, prioritizing construction discipline over fleeting trends or coolness. This dedication to craftsmanship has long been a hallmark of their brand.

Lightweight, flat socks for boots in supple leather landed the looks. Booties and shoes zipped up the back lent a futuristic touch to the looks, especially when worn with long johns or ribbed briefs. Prints took a back seat, with the exception of delicate polka dots on a sheer chiffon blouse, adorned with a dangling bow. Tunics featured deep V-necklines that exposed the chest and long, long sleeves.

A series of oversized tailored jackets summed up the tailoring, with hourglass waists on long coats, gathered details on oversized puffers, deconstructed blazers with sheer panels and quilted vests.
