The British Fashion Awards 2022 took place on Monday, December 5, 2022, and returned to London’s iconic venue the “Royal Albert Hall”. The event, considered one of the most anticipated moments in the global fashion calendar, celebrates fashion at the intersection of culture and is a global entertainment platform for brands, creatives, designers, artists, and trendsetters to come together to celebrate the industry. The Fashion Awards is a fundraiser for the BFC Foundation and focuses on celebrating excellence in the fashion industry and supporting the future pipeline of creative talent.

Top models, designers, muses, and celebrities gathered to celebrate all things fashion. The industry’s biggest names in attendance included legends Naomi Campbell and Tilda Swinton, model Elsa Hosk and actress Florence Pugh. Amelia Windsor, Olympia of Greece, or Lady Di’s nieces, Amelia and Eliza Spencer were also in attendance.

The ceremony was hosted by fashion star Jodie Turner-Smith, who showcased her fashion prowess in multiple outfit changes, including a vibrant lime-coloured Gucci gown that stole the show on the red carpet.

Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli won the title of Designer of the Year, the most coveted and prestigious award given by a jury of around 1,000 BFA industry experts. Joining him in the race were designers Jonathan Anderson, Matthieu Blazy, Miuccia Prada, Raf Simons, and Demna. Bella Hadid was recognized for her influence beyond the runway and named Model of the Year. Unfortunately, she was not able to attend the event due to illness but delivered an emotional speech via video from her New York apartment. ‘It’s not being the best. It’s not being better than everyone else. It’s just being able to succeed because our ancestors have never had an opportunity like this in their life. This is for Palestinian children. This is for Dutch children. This is for any child, immigrant, or refugee.’

And, of course, the red carpet looks at the British Fashion Awards did not disappoint.  Muse Alexa Chung wore Prada and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley wore a hooded, crystal-covered 16Arlington creation. ‘The Crown’ star Elizabeth Debicki opted for a Christian Dior look, while Florence Pugh wore a red Valentino gown. Naomi Campbell rocked a silver sequined outfit. Voluminous chiffon dresses, transparencies, shiny fabrics, such as sequins and velvet, or accessories were just some of the trends spotted during the evening.
