The Lebanese designer’s captivating collection exhibits a sparkling appeal that captures attention at a time when everything is familiar.

Elie Saab presented his latest Haute Couture Winter/Fall 2022-2023 collection during Paris Fashion Week. The show took place at the Le Carreau du Temple location in the Haut-Marais district. The setting? A glass and metal structure, which enveloped the space in a pearly glow with a warm light present to set the mood for the show.

Entitled “The Beginning of Twilight”, the collection awakens an enchanted moment of possibility where fantasies and mystery can manifest themselves. For the energetic woman and the modern young man, a novelty at the Maison, each imperial piece is a distinct impression of a disappearing sun. Ethereal tones, opulent textures and curvaceous lines embody the subtle between day and night where, if only for a brief moment, the real and the imaginary are one.

For the season, Elie Saab captured the feeling that everything is familiar, but nothing is as it seems. as it appears.

There was also a specter of feathers dancing with black velvet tapestries, and caressing each other in bodices that alternated between opacity and transparency. Tufts of lace rushed over exaggerated collars and exaggerated necklines, while beaded bangs swung down sleeves, captivating the eye with shimmering movement

“Tall reeds sway gently to and fro in the sultry breeze as the deep vermilion sun descends hazily, bidding a long farewell to a lingering day. The last rays of warm light ripple across the horizon, creating a soft pearly glow on the savannah. It is THE BEGINNING OF THE TWILIGHT, the last instance of suspended calm before the stars begin to twinkle awake. “Sumptuous fabrics are beautifully layered with intricate embroidery in fantastic dreamscapes that embrace the body with figure-defining shapes.  A specter of feathers dances with black velvet tapestries, and stripes on bodices alternate between opacity and transparency. Lace braids rush over exaggerated collars and exaggerated necklines, while beaded bangs flutter and sway down sleeves, captivating the eye with shimmering movement. Large floor-length satin capes, with majestic shoulder lines, exhibit masculine dominance in layers of multicolored plumage. Gemstones and beads cling to the skin like slippery stardust and are given definition and shape from gauzy cutouts in contour. Large braids of gold beads snake around colored stones, transforming into neck ornamental necklaces and sculpted waists of simple off-white mermaid gowns.” – from Elie Saab.
