Carolina Herrera F/W 22-23’ Ready-to-Wear by Wes Gordon

Creative director Wes Gordon draws inspiration from the confidence, strength and volcanic energy of the Carolina Herrera woman to bring boldness and excitement to the house’s Fall Winter 2022 collection.

“Bravery never goes out of fashion” opened the notes for the Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2022 collection, which took place at the New York Fashion Week. It centred around the self-assured, strong and fiery Carolina Herrera woman. Linear and tailored silhouettes are prominent this season. However, the collection is far from lacking in colour and extravagance.

Cascading fabrics, exaggerated sleeves, and bright colours were present on the white runway.

Bold floral prints and fabrics including denim, silk moirés, crisp taffetas and faille, signature Herrera cotton shirting, knits embroidered with threadwork and sequins and a lurex brocade created the looks imagined by Wes Gordon for a daring and confident woman.

Gordon also emphasized that there was a reason why he was going for the dramatic. “It’s our most fabulous, dramatic pieces that are selling the fastest,” he said. “There is definitely, I think, a desire to celebrate, to get dressed. The moment is absolutely right now.”

Most of the models wore sleek pulled-back hairstyles and strappy black heels. Some even wore oversized black sunglasses — no matter that this was a freezing mid-February day in New York. Moreover, there were linear and tailored silhouettes. “The silhouettes this season are markedly linear and tailored, yet feature moments of exuberance like an undulating cascade, an enormous sleeve or a colour reveal at a hem,” the label explained on its Instagram page.

In short, this new Carolina Herrera’s collection was a combination of day-to-day designs along with great and iconic dresses that we will see on the next red carpet. A palette of whites, blacks and greys combined with the most striking and vivid colours.
