The Standout Resort 2026 Fashion Shows

Fashion’s globe-trotting runway presentations have evolved into far more than seasonal showcases — they are immersive cultural moments that turn cities into stages for luxury storytelling.

From the sunlit coastline of Biarritz to the glamour of Los Angeles and the refined streets of Manhattan, fashion houses continue to embrace destination shows that merge travel, celebrity, art, and craftsmanship into unforgettable experiences. This season’s resort collections unfolded like a stylish world tour, with Louis Vuitton commanding attention in New York while Dior, Chanel, and Ralph Lauren each delivered their own interpretation of fantasy, freedom, and modern luxury.

For its Cruise 2027 collection, Louis Vuitton arrived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, staging its runway inside The Frick Collection. The historic museum provided a striking setting for a show attended by some of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces, including Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett and Chloë Sevigny.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière explored the idea of New York as a city of opposites — uptown refinement meeting downtown rebellion. That contrast shaped the collection from beginning to end. Denim became a central element, reimagined through structured silhouettes and elevated styling that reflected what Ghesquière described as the effortless sophistication of American fashion.

The runway mixed leather biker jackets, athletic references, and boxing-inspired shorts with sharp tailoring influenced by the bold glamour of the 1980s. Rich eveningwear inspired by the Gilded Age added another layer of drama, creating a collection that balanced polish with edge.

One of the most memorable aspects of the show was its tribute to legendary artist Keith Haring. Ghesquière drew inspiration from Haring’s life and artistic influence after watching a documentary about the late pop art pioneer. The connection became even more meaningful after Louis Vuitton uncovered a vintage trunk from the 1930s that Haring himself had customized years ago.

Haring’s instantly recognizable artwork appeared across garments and accessories, injecting the collection with energy and symbolism. More than just a visual reference, the collaboration reflected themes of individuality, liberation, and artistic freedom — ideas that aligned perfectly with the collection’s narrative of downtown creativity meeting uptown sophistication.

On the West Coast, Dior transformed Los Angeles into the backdrop for its Cruise 2026/2027 showcase. Set against the striking architecture of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the presentation marked another ambitious chapter for creative director Jonathan Anderson.

The front row reflected the show’s Hollywood atmosphere, with stars including Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sabrina Carpenter and Jisoo in attendance.

Anderson embraced theatricality this season, reworking Dior’s classic codes with a rebellious spirit. Signature Bar jackets appeared distressed and deconstructed, while denim pieces were punctuated with oversized holes linked together by intricate chains. Accessories amplified the fantasy, from glitter-covered shoes and sequined sunglasses to playful handbags shaped like ladybirds.

Cinema played an important role in the collection’s inspiration. Christian Dior famously designed for Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, and Anderson built on that legacy by exploring the idea of fashion as escapism and dream-making.

The collection also featured contributions from pop artist Ed Ruscha, whose graphics added another creative dimension to the runway. Bold yet wearable, nostalgic yet contemporary, Anderson’s Dior continues to position itself as one of the industry’s most imaginative forces.

Chanel’s Coastal Escape

At Chanel, the atmosphere shifted toward ease and seaside elegance. Creative director Matthieu Blazy presented his first cruise collection for the house in Biarritz, the coastal town where Gabrielle Chanel opened a couture salon in 1915.

For Blazy, the destination was both historically and personally meaningful. Childhood trips to the Basque coast inspired the relaxed mood of the collection, which focused on movement, freedom, and life by the sea.

The runway featured shimmering dresses adorned with fish-scale paillettes, oversized raffia silhouettes, striped swimwear-inspired pieces, and relaxed daywear designed for effortless wearability. Accessories, including oversized tote bags and sparkling footwear, balanced practicality with glamour.

Blazy maintained Chanel’s signature craftsmanship while introducing a youthful optimism that has quickly become associated with his vision for the brand. Since taking over the maison, he has generated intense excitement both online and in stores, cementing himself as one of fashion’s most influential creative figures.
