Cèline Magazine:  Today, we have the pleasure of talking to the talented young model, Martina Echegaray. Welcome, Martina!

Martina Echegaray: Hi, thank you for having me. I’m excited to talk to your magazine and all your readers.

Cèline:  Let’s dive right in! Your journey into the world of modelling began at a young age. Can you share the story of how it all started for you?

Martina: Absolutely! I started my modelling career at 18 when I auditioned for a runway casting in my hometown, Cordoba, Argentina. I was selected and the rest is history.

Cèline: How did you feel when you were selected for the casting? Can you describe the emotions you experienced at that moment?

Martina: Oh, that moment was absolutely unforgettable! When I was selected for the casting, I was full of excitement, joy, and disbelief all rolled into one. I remember my heart was pounding with excitement. It was like a rush of euphoria and accomplishment. I couldn’t stop smiling, and I even shed tears of happiness.

At that point, I knew that this opportunity was a turning point in my life. It was a chance to step into a world that I had always admired from afar. The feeling of being selected validated my passion for modeling, and it gave me the confidence to pursue this new path with determination. I knew that this was just the beginning, and it motivated me to give my all in pursuing my modelling career. The emotions of that moment still stay with me, reminding me of the incredible opportunity that set me on this exhilarating path.

Cèline: Such an incredible experience! Before you started modelling, you were working at a bar and studying psychology. How did you manage to transition into the fashion world?

Martina: It was quite a balancing act. While working at the bar and studying, I kept my eyes on my passion for modelling. I knew I had to take a chance, and that’s exactly what I did when the opportunity to audition came up.

Cèline: Your determination certainly paid off. Moving on, you mentioned that your first international job was in Mumbai, India. Could you tell us about your experience there?

Martina: My time in Mumbai was unforgettable. It was my first international job, and I spent three months there working hard in the fashion scene. The experience was amazing but, at the same time, it was hard. I worked very well, but it was not enough to cover my expenses. My stay there basically boiled down to gaining experience and gathering enough material to get to Europe, which is where I wanted to get to from the beginning.

Cèline: Thank you for sharing that, Martina. Your journey in Mumbai sounds like an incredible adventure filled with both highs and challenges. It must have been quite a whirlwind experience for you. Next, you arrived in London in 2020, but your journey there was cut short due to the quarantine. How did you handle that setback?

Martina: Yes. Unfortunately, I spent only three weeks doing castings, making myself known to clients. Then, the quarantine was decreed, and I had to leave London as there were no job possibilities at that time. I went to Dubai with the possibility of working there and stayed for about six months.

Cèline: And then, did you eventually return to London the following year, right?

Martina: Exactly. I tried to go back to London, which worked out and I stayed for the next three years working there.

Cèline: Travelling to different places can be undoubtedly an exciting aspect of your job as a model. What do you like the most about it?

Martina: I think my favourite part about this job is the opportunity it gives me to travel and see different places. It’s not always as glamorous as you might think. Sometimes, when you travel to a place, you only get to see it through the studio doors or just the location the client has chosen for the shoot. There are not always opportunities to really get to know each city you go to.

Cèline: That’s an interesting perspective. With so much travelling and being far from your family, what’s the hardest part of your career?

Martina: It sometimes tends to be very lonely, as my family is in Argentina, and when I travel, I do it most of the time alone. I think that’s the hardest part of my career, being so far away from my family.

Cèline:  Thank you for sharing it. Next, as you’ve progressed in your career, what have been the most significant lessons you’ve learned in the fashion world?

Martina: As I have progressed in my career, I have gained experience and knowledge about the fashion world because, before that, I didn’t have much of an idea. I got to be very involved.

Cèline: It seems it was a challenging but rewarding experience. Lastly, what are your goals and dreams moving forward in your career?

Martina: I still have goals and dreams in this world, and I feel that living in London is the perfect place to achieve them because I always imagined and still think of London as a place of opportunities, not only for people who are dedicated to the world of fashion or art but for all types of careers.

Cèline: Amazing! We can’t wait to see you achieve your dreams, Martina. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey with us today. It was a pleasure having you!

Martina: Thank you for having me. I truly appreciate the opportunity to share my story with all your readers.
